The chaotic mind

By Mariam Rajab

Mind can be a very dangerous place to be in,
It blurs out things which are crystal clear,
Tangles the strings which aren’t there,
Curves out straight lines,
Makes us see that there’s nothing but mines,
Brings us closer to the loop of a rope,
Making us believe that there’s no other hope.

Then a silent gust of air catches us off guard,
Twists our minds and becomes our souls’ ward,
Makes us laugh through our tears,
Obliges us to reckon that there’s no other fears,
Fills the space which was empty for long,
Turns our lives into beautiful songs.
