A squall has risen in my heart,
When an unknown guest knocked at my door,
Covering my chills with his blanket of love,
Throwing my insecurities on the floor,
Filling my void with his strain of laughter,
Dispelled the demons from my world thereafter,
Holding me close in his strong grasp,
Fixed my broken pieces by keeping me in his clasp,
Swept me away from the valley of dark,
Found beauty in all my mark,
Baby! Tonight, you just hold me tight,
As for you I will always fight.
Confession to the lad
By Mariam Rajab
You are the person closest to my heart,
Someone who’ll always be one of my part,
Truth be told, seeing you dejected stabs me like a knife,
Because i truly consider you as my life.
Tears flow through my eyes which were once dry,
The thought of you sick and weary makes me cry, Impotent and helpless is what i feel when you’re frail,
This sight of you makes me go pale.
My clock trails to match the time of yours,
To be with you I’ve closed all other doors,
You’re there in all of my dreams,
I am hopelessly in love with you as it seems.
You’re the first thing on my mind when i awake,
I remember you in every step i take,
You are very special and that is true!
I am happier when i am with you
The unknown swain
By Mariam Rajab
My heart started to beat again,
When entered an unknown swain,
Who filled the space which was vacant for years,
Showed me dreams and fastened my fears,
Mended the pieces which were broken,
Unraveled me with words unspoken,
Replaced the tears with strains of laughter,
Ensured me that he is to stay hereafter,
Ultimately he took over my heart and soul,
As he ceased my loneliness and made me whole.
The chaotic mind
By Mariam Rajab
Mind can be a very dangerous place to be in,
It blurs out things which are crystal clear,
Tangles the strings which aren’t there,
Curves out straight lines,
Makes us see that there’s nothing but mines,
Brings us closer to the loop of a rope,
Making us believe that there’s no other hope.
Then a silent gust of air catches us off guard,
Twists our minds and becomes our souls’ ward,
Makes us laugh through our tears,
Obliges us to reckon that there’s no other fears,
Fills the space which was empty for long,
Turns our lives into beautiful songs.
The lonely lass
By Mariam Rajab
There was a lonely lass who wanted love, So she cared and kept everyone above, She wore her heart on her sleeve, Gave more than she could believe.
Shortly her tender heart got stabbed,
But she still loved with what could be nabbed.
Soon it left her hub drained,
Making her empty and strained,
It left her shunned and her soul shattered,
Wore her out and she forgot that she mattered.
Her heart had been broken
And it couldn’t be fixed by any glue,
So her pain flew out of her vein,
Which finally turned her cold and blue.
Thus when the lonely lass faded into thin air,
The demons faded as well which once she’d fear.
Millions buzzed around her body which is now pale,
But no amount of tear would make her prevail,
Hence, she laid there as still as a rock,
And people missed the way she would talk,
But what goes never comes around,
This is understood after she’d vanished never to be found.
